Angelica Afanador

Shortly after graduating from the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies (FES) in 2008, Angelica initiated her career in environmental policy at the World Bank. With her background in environmental engineering and her policy skills acquired through the MEM program, she does what she set as her goal prior to attending FES–employs engineering tools and science in the policy decision-making process. As a consultant to the World Bank, she is currently working on low-carbon development in Latin American cities, and she is part of the group in charge of writing the World Bank Corporate Environmental Strategy for the Latin American Region. Prior to her service at the World Bank, she worked in Colombia (her home country) on biofuels, as well as on land use and hydrology projects – quantifying the flooding area of basins occupied by communities vulnerable to inundations. In addition to her job, Angelica enjoys walking and biking everywhere, loves cooking while listening to her favorite music, and she is fond of dancing.

Duncan Cheung

Duncan holds a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (2008).  His graduate work focused on consumer sentiment on environmentally preferable products.

At GreenOrder, Duncan advises companies on improving their environmental and energy performance, and develops strategies to capture emerging market opportunities related to sustainability. His clients have included industry leaders in the consumer product manufacturing, equipment rental, and heavy manufacturing industries.

Duncan has experience in corporate environmental strategy, multi-stakeholder management, and project development. Prior to joining GreenOrder, Duncan established and directed a pilot sustainable development project under the supervision of the Chengdu Municipal Government in Sichuan, China. Duncan has co-authored two books on environmental education and acted as partnership manager for several non-governmental organizations in China.

Vidur Chopra

Vidur Chopra graduated from Yale’s Masters in International and Development Economics in May 2009. His interests lie in understanding the human dimensions of conflict and as a consultant with UNICEF, he is currently addressing ways to ensure that early childhood development is visible on the humanitarian agenda during emergencies. He majored in Economics from the University of Delhi, India, and worked in the field of youth development and rural primary education with non-profits in India. He enjoys travelling, exploring different theatrical and musical forms, and cross-country running.  He intends on returning to school soon to pursue his Ph.D in international education policy.

Yi-Wen Lin

Yi-Wen graduated from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies with a Master of Environmental Management in 2008. Her master thesis was titled, “Tool for Selecting Your Street Tree Species – a Book for the City of New Haven.” After graduating, Yi-Wen began her career as a forester with the New York City Parks and Recreation Department. Her job responsibilities include coordinating street tree contracts with stakeholders in  Queens and Brooklyn, and supervising street tree delivery, planting, maintenance and stewardship. Prior to joining the New York City Parks and Recreation Department, she worked at the Urban Resources Institute as an Urban Community Forester and graduated from National Taiwan University with a B.S. in Geography. Her interests lie in restoring urban green spaces through community projects.

Zheng (Martin) Ma

Zheng (Martin) Ma graduated from Yale Graduate School of Arts & Sciences with a Ph.D.  in Computer Science in 2007. He has been working for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Beijing and Washington D.C. over the past two years. His interest lies in business strategy development for technology companies and global advantage for multinational enterprises. He was also actively engaged in cutting-edge research on internet technology at Microsoft and Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories in the US before working at BCG.

Zheng received his B.E. in computer science from Tsinghua University with honors. While at Yale, he was chosen as a McDougal fellow and Yale Entrepreneurial Institute fellow. He enjoys traveling, photography and entrepreneurship. He has visited more than thirty national parks in the US and seven countries on three continents.
